Very sad news

It is with a heavy heart that I announce that sweet Chester H. McChattysox's FeLV/FIV test came back positive yesterday.

I knew it was a possibility, as he was a stray, but I was still very surprised. Because we have four other cats in the house, and because every rescue and shelter I know is struggling to place healthy animals, I made the difficult decision for him to be euthanized while he was still under anesthesia. Two of our cats are in the geriatric phase, and as with humans, cats become more susceptible to illness as they age, and I just couldn't risk introducing a sick kitty into the household.

I only knew him for a short time, but he was a sweetie of a kitty. We buried him yesterday afternoon, next to other wonderful kitties (and one bunny) with whom we've been lucky enough to share our lives.

RIP, Chester.

  2. Thank you. He was a sweetie, but I know I did the right thing - even though it was a sucky decision to have to make.
