I may make another one of these using two strands of yarn, to make a thicker carrier that will better insulate my water and keep it cool.
I'm still not finished with the KP Essential Tweed or the KP Essential Multi Socks. I'll finish the latter pair this weekend, come hell or high water. Saturday is Knitting Group day, so I'm going to kick back and enjoy myself.
It must be Eastern box turtle mating season or or possibly cross-the-road season, because I rescued another of the little buggers this week. I was peeling out to head off for an interview when I spotted Lumpy II in the road about 50 yards from my driveway. Screeeeech went my tires, and whoosh went my truck door. I grabbed the little guy up, and plopped him down on the seat for the very swift reverse-gear trip to my driveway. Put him in the corner of the pasture, aimed toward the woods, and wished him luck. No pix this time, as I was already running late. Fortunately for me and for Lumpy II, the road I live on doesn't get a lot of traffic, so I didn't slam into anybody as I was backing up at 30 mph.
Last week was the busiest of the month for me, but also the coolest, as I got to meet Jack Hanna on Friday. Yes, that Jack Hanna. THE Jack Hanna! He was at the Natural Science Center of Greensboro for a publicity thing, and members of the media were invited for a behind-the-scenes interview/film/photo op. If you live in the Greensboro area, and you have not been to the NSC since they opened Animal Discovery, GO! Go now! It is fantastic. I'm working on another article about the NSC for my newspaper's annual Neighborhood Guide.
And I got to pet a cheetah! Seriously, that was cooler than meeting Jack Hanna! (No offense, Jack!) Jack's very nice, and I respect him immensely, but a cheetah, people! I got to pet a cheetah!!!! Alas, the photos I tried to take of the cheetah came out rather blurry. Next time I'm at the NSC, I'm going to see if I can get up close with one of the new vampire bats they've recently put in exhibit. That would be as cool as petting a cheetah, I'm sure.
I love the water bottle holder!
